how to make ATL-TAB work in Ubuntu 12.04

I found out this morning that the usual way I use to navigate from one window to another was not working in my new ubuntu installation.
Here is what I did as a workaround:

install COMPIZ
  • Install (sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager)
  • open the manager and navigate to window management
  • checked application switcher (previously disabled )
that's it wish you a nice ALT-tabbing

  1. I noticed that if you use Application Switcher there is a Chrome bug (the browser freeze when you switch untill you resize the window) while if you use the standard "static Application Switcher" this is not happening.

  2. There is also a bug with Chrome with the latter: when it looses focus the window content freeze.
You can remap Alt-Super-Tab into Alt-Tab from the ring switch (that I personally enojoy a lot)
