use VPN on Android dev without the screen lock

My device is an Android 4 and I faced a silly problem of architecture of control... which was not acceptable for me so here is how to remove the forced swipe unlocking with VPN enabled thanks to a bug:
  • Set pattern lock
  • Set your VPN and save
  • lock the screen, and press power button, the screen shows pattern unlock points, try a wrong pattern several times so that the system will say you may forget the pattern and you will be blocked to try for 30 seconds and then a new option "forget password" will display in the button.
  • click the "forget password" button, use google account to unlock it. it's done.

Now, check you VPN setting, it's still there and you can use it normally. Again, lock your phone and press power button to open it, the unlock method changes to normal instead of pattern even if stays grey in the menu'

hope you enjoy it and don't blame me if you loose your phone and messes with your VPN security

  2. It no longer works in my Galaxy Note 4.0.4. After I have logged in with google username/password, the VPN profile has been removed (actually hidden). Re-enabling lock screen security unhides the VPN profile (all previous settings are intact).
